Background:
The Department of Safety and Security is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system to enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the programmes and activities of the United Nations
Description of Responsibilities:
Summary of key functions:
• Planning and technical maintenances of the UNDSS Radio Room (Jerusalem and Gaza) / VHF repeater/ antennas and regular check-ups.
• Technical checks and repairs of radios, repeaters, backup power systems, antennas, and other radio support equipment, and follow up with lessor of towers and maintenance conducted through the company.
• Programming/aligning and follow up on all UN Radios, maintaining radio ID archive, that includes handhelds, Base and mobile stations of the UN Agencies in I/WB/G in the duty station.
• Provide recommendations on radio-telecom equipment purchases (UHF/VHF/HF/) and software updates.
• Conduct required studies for system continuity and enhancement.
• Technical supervision and assistance on UNRCP technical requirements that includes Safety and Security, in addition to Radio telecommunication requirements.

Ensuring that both Radio Rooms serving UN Agencies, Funds, Programmes & Organizations (AFP) in I/WB/G are functional in the best manner in delivering its mandate.

Ensuring the system (outside Radio Rooms) is functional and having backup plans in case of any failure.

Ensuring privacy, security and a unified system of the UN Emergency Communication System among all UN AFPs in the duty station, along with recovery plans through ID’s and specific programming according to UN (Select 5) standards.

Able to work with Advanced communication equipment and DMR network system and microwave transmission on narrow bank digital standards.

Provide technical expertise, supervision and support that result in additional cost reduction, secured and compliant system at the UN Agencies in the West Bank

Based on the key functions and expected results, the impact is expected to a 24/7 emergency communication system that serves the UN Agencies in I/WB/G, and reliable system through having backup plans and channels, unified coding and technical measures that would result in enhancing the Safety and Security of UN personnel in accordance with the mandate of UNDSS.

Qualifications :
Education:
• BA degree in Telecommunication engineering.
Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the field of radio-communications (VHF, HF)
Language Requirements & other skills:
• English and Arabic (fluent).
• A valid driving license in Jerusalem.
• Experience with the UN or another international organization is a strong asset
