Position:Translator/ Interpreter
Place of Performance:Gaza
Contract Duration: One Year with possibility of extension

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The Translator/Interpreter core duties will include, but are not limited to:
-Producing 100% content accuracy when translating documents and/or website content from Arabic to English and English to Arabic; this includes detailed comparison of content, facts and figures and making sure there are no omissions from the source;
-Translations and proofreading all footnotes and/or endnotes, captions under photographs, lists etc.;
-Accurate and consistent usage of humanitarian terminology.
-Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation; ensuring that no typographical errors are left in the final text.
-The translator/Interpreter is obligated to work within the required deadlines and be available for comments and corrections.
-The translator/Interpreter should be available to provide Interpretation services for MMU Project personnel in meetings with donors and implementers, beneficiaries and other organizations as required;
-The translation services under this TOR are the property of our client and cannot be submitted, distributed to or used by any other party, unless arranged otherwise
Monitoring and Progress Controls
-Successful completion of the tasks explained in the previous paragraph.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education
-Bachelor degree in Arabic/English Translation or related field, is an advantage.
-Additional years of relevant work experience, in combination with a relevant certificate or diploma, may substitute for the requirement for a bachelor’s degree
Work Experience
-At least 3 years of relevant experience working as a translator or interpreter;
-Proven experience in translations from English to Arabic and Arabic to English for clients such as research institutes and international organizations.
-Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point.
