Database Administrator
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Position: Database Administrator (2 positions)
Place of Performance: Gaza
Contract Duration: One year with possibility of extension
Starting Date: TBC

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
The Database Administrator will be involved in designing methods to store, analyze, utilize, and organize data. Based on the requirements of the Materials Tracking System (MTS), s/he will set up the database in coordination with the Access Coordination Unit (ACU) to ensure the smooth functioning and running of the MTS through the central server administered by the ACU.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
The clerk core duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting in:
-Assisting in database design;
-Updating and amending existing databases;
-Setting up and testing database and data handling systems;
-Monitoring database efficiency;
-Sustaining the security and integrity of data;
-Creating complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted;
-Training colleagues in how to input and extract data; and
-Perform other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
Education:
-Master’s degree in Computer Sciences or information systems, statistics, engineering or other relevant discipline; additional years of relevant work experience, preferably in combination with a relevant bachelor’s degree, may substitute for the requirement for a master’s degree.
Work Experience:
-Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience working in IT support, programming, or web development.
-Strong experience of Microsoft .NET required and C# is desired;
-Extensive experience in T-SQL, Stored Procedure, relational and dimensional models, desired;
-Strong experience with SQL Server and other relational databases, an asset;
-Excellent understanding of MSOffice;
-Excellent diagnostic, debugging and problem solving skills;

-Professionalism: Strong analytical and organisational skills; Eye for detail and accuracy; Experience with database software/web applications; The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines; Up-to-date knowledge of technology and the Data Protection Act; Ability to work well in a fast paced environment, where the technology is constantly changing.
-Client Orientation: Ability to identify and analyse client security needs and develop solution specifications to meet business requirements.
-Communications: Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise manner. Ability to formulate detailed technical reports.
-Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations with people in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Languages:
-Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required
