Within the framework of the project entitled “From Grove to Market” which is sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC),
and implemented by Bethlehem University’s Fair Trade Development Center (FTDC) of the Institute for Community Partnership, Applied Research Institute Jerusalem (ARIJ), The Economic and Social Development Center of Palestine (ESDC), Business Women Forum (BWF) and Oxfam that aims at enabling small and medium scale farmers from vulnerable and poor households in the West Bank to have fair and equitable access to commercial markets within a conducive institutional and policy environment, The project seeks to assist national olive oil representative bodies to promote the interests of the Palestinian olive oil sector stakeholders and to help advocate for a supportive, gender equitable legal environment. The project is seeking to hire the services of a marketing advisor to support “From Grove to Market” program to achieve the marketing outputs and outcomes. The
marketing advisor is expected to possess deep knowledge of the market and what will work in this market and offer advice to team with regard to marketing strategies to achieve marketing targets.
Responsibilities: The Market Advisor shall perform the following duties:
- Bring assistance in marketing issues to project beneficiaries that have been supported by the project to produce marketable products;
- Study the market condition for the olive oil and olive based products for From Grove to Market Program;
- Analyze the functioning markets for olive oil and olive based products and design new marketing methods;
- Suggest methods of improving brand image of olive oil and olive based products and suggest ways to diversify marketing and business channels ;
- Research markets to identify growth opportunities for the olive oil and olive based products;
- Follow the local and national market evolution, assist programme staff for decisions concerning market related activities and marketing of products;
- Achieve marketing targets according to the agreed plan within the olive oil programme; Take active part in supporting the Policy and Advocacy officer;
- Serve as liaison between the policy and advocacy officer and the partner cooperatives;
- Take the responsibility for coordinating and organizing different activities as requested by the policy and advocacy officer
- Explains different activities and interventions to the farmers and explains the reasons behind them;
- Conveys his/her observations from the fields to the policy and advocacy officer to help in developing plans and activities,
- Serves as liaison between the policy and advocacy officer and other olive oil representative bodies;
Minimum Requirements:
• More than 4 years of experienced in marketing, especially in their field of olive oil and olive based products.
• Demonstrated experience on putting women at the centre of profitable business.
• Excellent understanding of Value Chain Development approaches including market analysis, sub-sector analysis, market mapping, and business service development
• Experience in planning and executing multi-stakeholder, forums and events, including experience in working with private sector, development partners, the government, and other relevant partners.
• A leader and have great motivational power.
• Good communication skills and language skills (Arabic and English)
• Proficiency in computer operation and presentation.

• Ability to work as a team member
