THE ORGANIZATION
With over 30 years of experience, Handicap International (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, currently active in 60 countries, working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. It works alongside people with disabilities (PwDs) and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.
HI has been present in the Middle East since 1987 and currently operates in Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, with a regional office based in Amman, Jordan, and field offices in each country. In Palestine, HI has been active since 1996 and works in both Gaza and West Bank.
THE PROJECT
The project entitled "Post-emergency and early recovery intervention to improve access to essentials services in the Gaza strip for most vulnerable individuals and families.” which will be implemented by HI and partners, and is funded by the French Agency for Development (AFD), is planned for a duration of 18 months.
The project aims to provide post emergency and recovery support to address the growing gaps in PwDs’ (persons with disabilities) and PwIs’ (persons with injuries) access to essential specialized and mainstream services due to the last crisis in Gaza Strip.
For the implementation of this project Handicap International is opening the following positions:

Livelihood Officer
The position is full time job position, national status and are based in Gaza
Livelihood Officer
Main objectives of the position
-Contribute to the implementation of a livelihood assessment study
-Mobilize and support employers and livelihood stakeholders towards inclusive response
-Provide direct support to People with disabiltiy whom source of income has been affected by the crisis to resume work
-Mobilise livelihood organizations and existing social services for the benefits of the targeted vulnerable households
-Identify, based on candidate analysis and business plan the exixting services that could benefit the selected beneficiaries and propose adequate referrals
-Contribute to the project planning and monitoring
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Experience
-Bachelor degree in ecomomic development and/or business management
-At least 3 years experience in livelihood and/or economic development
-At least 2 years experience in community based work or work with vulnerable people
-Motivation for promoting access to work for people with disability
-Good level of spoken and written English, excellent communication skills
-Capacity to formalize tools and procedures
-Good skills in organisation , coordination and the transfer of knowledge are essential
