MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
Develops and coordinates production and distribution of communication materials and visibility items for Safety and Security Division.
Works with External Relations/Public Information and Field staff to develop communication plans, campaigns and visibility items to promote SSD’s programmes ensuring all products are culturally sensitive to both local staff and beneficiaries.;
Plans and supports the implementation of internal communication tools for the SSD team, the internal newsletter, the intranet or other innovative and efficient channels of internal communication;
Works in collaboration with a translator to ensure all materials are bilingual (English and Arabic) in order to reach broader audience. Provides guidance to the translator in order to coordinate deliverables and work plan.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
A university degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field
At least three years of experience in communications, public relations, external relations or journalism preferably for international organization. Experience in the field of safety and security is an asset.
Bilingual- Arabic and English with an excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic
Proven skills in communication, public relations, external relations, or journalism
Ability to work with Adobe Package (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiency;
Strong interpersonal skills; proven ability to work in a multi-cultural setting and teams with diversity of background and skills;
Well-developed sense of initiative, strategic thinking and analytical skills;
Excellent computer skills using Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet applications.

It’s desirable to have experience working in the Middle East and demonstrated visual and graphic design skills.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $886.90; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 5.89%) Contract Duration: six months. Extension is subject to funds availability, continuing need and satisfactory performance.
Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered ASSESSMENT METHOD
