The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the worlds largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
The Logistics Officer will assist with procurement and logistics in NRCs office in Jerusalem. He/she will be Reporting directly to the Logistics and Security Coordinator in Jerusalem
Job description
-To identify and be updated on the suppliers market and advice for necessary changes and updates, and participate in the negotiations with suppliers.
-Identify and Initiate contracts with preferred suppliers and keep an updated vendor list
-To monitor the deliveries to the departments/bases/programmes
-Register equipment in NRC Inventory list and track movement of items.
-Prepare regular inventory write off and donation certificates
-Ensuring that vehicle log books are kept up to date, vehicles are kept in good conditions, control of fuel consumption.
-Able to arrange transportation for the NRC Staff movement.
-Responsible for IT including ensuring that all computers has updated antivirus and no illegal software is installed, liaise with preferred IT service providers and regularly perform backup procedures.
-Focal point with landlords of the Guesthouses, expats houses and offices
-Frequent travel to Gaza to support the logistics department
-Acting Procurement officer and logistics coordinator when absent
-Training logistics and NRC staff on the logistics rules and regulations
-Prepare logistics reports
-Ensure that procurement procedures are implemented in accordance with NRC guidelines, policies and code of conduct
Qualifications
Bachelor in relevant field
Education field
Sales / Marketing
Computing / IT
Education level
College / University, Bachelor's degree
Personal qualities
-Minimum 3 years of experience in Logistics.
-Service minded and a pleasant personality.
-Be able to work outside normal working hours.
-Very good command of English, Arabic written and orally.
-Good command of the Hebrew language
-Experience of working with non-governmental organizations is an advantage.
-Excellent command of Computer skills (Word, Excel).
-Valid Drivers license.
