MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
-Provides training services, products and support to the Field Office Safety & Security Division.
-Develops and oversees the complete learning and training cycle: conducts needs assessments among SSD team, develops an annual training calendar, prepares course schedules and lesson plans, delivers training, and evaluates and monitors training activities.
-Works closely with the Senior Safety and Security Department in training development (based on Security Risk Assessment and identified needs) in order to streamline Security & Risk Management efforts within UNRWA.
-Advises and assists the Training Officer in developing creative and innovative area staff training products focusing predominately on using a training-of-trainers approach and developing and presenting briefing products.
-Writes periodic training reports for senior management.
-Maintains a safety and security database of persons trained, in what subjects and dates to determine currency of qualifications.
-Creates and maintains updated and relevant safety & security soft and hard copy lesson plans/facilitator guides in English and Arabic, maintains an updated library of emergency medical (First Aid and First Responder) and Fire Safety Periods of Instruction.
-Services as point of contact for training consultants and government training officials in consultation with the Assistant CSS and HR Training Section when appropriate.
-Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
-University degree in public or business administration, human resources management or any other related discipline with a particular focus on training and training development, and/or military/ police background at mid-grade level.
-Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in safety and security training development, preparation and presentation, accompanied preferably by significant military/ police background.
-Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
-Ability to identify needs, suggest appropriate solutions and work towards these.
-Ability to establish and maintain productive partnerships with internal and external training facilitators.
-Excellent communication and presentation skills;
-Proven ability to deliver the complete Learning and Training Cycle.
-Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and deliver on a work plan with minimal supervision.
-Fully computer literate and capable in training related software and applications; proven interpersonal skills, ability to maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment.
-It’s desirable to have experience in international humanitarian work, experience in an international organization and basic knowledge of/familiarity with refugee issues.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $ 1,165.40; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 12.5%).
-Contract Duration: six months. Extension is subject to funds availability, continuing need and satisfactory performance.
-Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
-A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
