Job description:
The WASH Project Assistant will manage the practical implementation of an emergency WASH project. The main roles include planning the implementation activities, ensuring timely delivery, high quality of works, accountability is withheld (under the supervision of the Emergency Programme Administrator), the supervision of Local Partner staff, regular monitoring of field activities. A highly motivated individual with significant WASH related experience working with communities and local administration. The Incumbent will report to the Emergency Programme Coordinator (based in Jerusalem Office) and to the Gaza Head of Base of Oxfam Italia.
Main responsibilities:
-Implementation of emergency WASH project in the Middle Area of the Gaza Strip, including water supply through filling points, distribution of water tanks, rehabilitation of water structures and awareness campaign activities on good practices about the use of water in emergency situations;
-Active supervision of the Local Partner Staff with frequent visits to the field and participation in programmatic activities;
-Assist the Emergency Programme Coordinator in the regular coordination with local actors, authorities and communities.
-Ensuring project activities meet relevant Gaza WASH Cluster standards;
-Regular internal and external reporting;
Qualifications: (Essential):
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
University degree in water and sanitation engineering/water resources development, civil engineering disciplines (water supply and/or hydrology) or sanitation/hygiene engineering.
A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience related to WASH for International NGOs at senior level (Project manager, WASH Officer, etc);
Knowledge in water testing and treatment methods;
Proven experience in project management skills
-Excellent skills and knowledge of programme planning and implementation;
-Excellent report writing skills;
-Fluency in English and Arabic language, both spoken and written is mandatory;
Desirable:
Able to deliver results within tight deadlines;
Broad experience in maintain sound financial controls.
Good team work skills with the ability to work with different and sometime conflicting agendas
Significant experience in the INGOs working environment;
Excellent administrative and communication skills, highly organized, reliable and responsible person
Knowledge and clear understanding of the region of operation is an added advantage;
