The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) brings internationals to the West Bank to experience life under occupation. Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) provide a protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitor and report human rights abuses and support Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace. When they return home, EAs campaign for a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through an end to the occupation, respect for international law and implementation of UN resolutions.
As part of an OCHA-ERF-funded project, EAPPI is developing a database for collecting and sharing data concerning the occupation related human rights violations in Palestine.
In view of this, EAPPI is seeking a programmer to design a database for the needs of diverse users:
1-INPUT: Internationals, who collect data “on the ground” user-friendly input GUI
2-PROCESS: EAPPI-Staff, who processes the data for statistics and reports front-end with workflow options and strong statistical, illustrative and reporting tools
3-OUTPUT: Different stakeholders (UNICEF, OCHA oPt, iNGOs), who receive processed data customized reporting output
Responsibilities:
-Assists in conducting needs analysis for the development of new system
-Designs and develops the web-based database in cooperation with the Research Officer of EAPPI
-Imports existing data (.CSV)
-Designs and implements innovative software applications using up to date techniques and software methodologies
-Builds a security scheme for users to login and have different access rights relating to the database
-Ensures the integrity and security of highly sensitive data
-Creates necessary technical and architectural documentation
Criteria & Qualifications:
-Relevant IT-diploma
-Fundamental skills in data analysis and data modeling
-Excellent communication skills in English, oral and written
-Knowledge of the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM)
-Preferably work-experiences with iNGOs in the context of Human Rights
-Preferably working with Drupal
-Good communications and interpersonal skills
-Self-motivated, proactive and organized, transparent working style
-Ability to strictly observe given deadlines
-Ability to travel to Jerusalem
