Catholic Relief Services is an international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States and has been present in the Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza since 1961.
The CRS JWBG country program currently supports development/relief programs and activities in the sectors of civil society, humanitarian assistance, youth empowerment, education, and peace & justice. Position Title: Program Director- Conflict Management and Mitigation
Location: Jerusalem (CRS Beit Hanina Office)
Reports To: Head of Programs
Note: This position is dependent upon funding as well as the donor’s approval of the proposed Program Director. CRS anticipates a program start date of summer 2015. The applicant must be willing to commit to an assignment of two and a half years.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Director will work closely with implementing partners to manage and supervise a team situated in multiple locations across CRS’s Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza program implementing a US Government-funded conflict management and mitigation program to address inequitable access to health services.
The Program Director will ensure optimal strategic direction and achievement of program objectives and monitoring and evaluation plans for CRS and its implementing partners in compliance with CRS program quality standards and the donor’s administrative and financial requirements.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
-Master’s degree in peace and conflict studies, international relations, public administration, public health, economics, public policy or related field.
-7 years of project management experience in an international development setting. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in Israel/Palestine.
-Previous experience working with local partner agencies and ability to transfer knowledge and skills formally and informally.
-Budgeting and financial monitoring experience, particularly of USG-funded grants.
-Knowledge of USG regulations.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - fluency in English and Arabic (high standard of spoken and written English essential to job performance);
-Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc;
-Fluency Hebrew desirable, but not required.
