Position: Driver - Location: Gaza - Responsible to: Logistics Assistant - Closing date: 15th January 2014
THE ORGANIZATION Handicap International is an international organisation. Non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit making, it works alongside people with disabilities, whatever the context, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant. Since its creation, the organisation has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries and intervened in many emergency situations THE JOB Under the guidance and supervision of the Logistics Assistant, the diver, based in Gaza will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a high sense of responsibility, courtesy.
Main tasks will include: -
Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
-Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
-Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts - Drive the team according to the movement planning. - Apply HI security guidelines and specific instructions related to each movement. - Perform any other additional duty on request of his/her supervisor
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
-Must have Secondary Education as minimum
-Valid Driving License for 3 years at least.
-Minimum 3 years of previous work experience as driver with INGO. - Able to communicate in English language.
-Knowledge in mechanics and car maintenance.
-Knowledge in safety rules, and Gaza strip streets.
-Knowledge of computer skills are an asset.
Initial contract will be for a period of 9 months and the position is based in Gaza.
