Communications and Documentation Officer - AMIDEAST - Ramallah
AMIDEAST is an international, non-profit, educational organization in the West Bank and Gaza with offices throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
AMIDEAST is recruiting a number of positions for a USAID-funded Leadership and Teacher Development Program (LTD) to be based in its Ramallah office.
Job Title: Communications and Documentation Officer, LTD
Starting Date: February 1, 2014
Working Hours/Days: 40 hours per week: 8:00-4:00 or 9:00-5:00
Overall Position Responsibilities:The Communications and Documentation Officer is responsible for raising the profile of the Leadership and Teacher Development (LTD) program among the Palestinian community, stakeholders, beneficiaries and USAID. Specifically, the position is responsible for the following duties:
-Writing program reports (quarterly, annual and other) in highly proficient English
-Submitting weekly program updates to COP to forward to USAID
-Developing and maintaining a quarterly newsletter
-Writing and disseminating all press releases
-Capturing and sharing photo documentation of all key activities
-Following up all PR, press-related tasks including promotion materials such as calendars, folders, binders, posters, etc.
-Ensuring all LTD-produced marketing materials comply with AMIDEAST- and USAID-approved branding, and marketing plans/regulations
-Covering LTD activities with the aim of writing success stories in English and Arabic that highlight the impact of the program
-Arranging for logistics and following up with local media during major program events
-Updating LTD websites regularly with content, including pictures, press releases, stories, and edited descriptions of the programs
-Coordinating with local contractors on multimedia productions, including videos of LTD activities and radio ads
-Liaising with relevant MoE departments and staff, particularly district-based public relations officers to ensure maximum visibility of program activities and accomplishments
-Assuming the lead on all event planning, including contracting, logistics, and follow-up on the day of an event
-Assisting the M&E department with survey administration when needed
-Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English/translation, Business Administration or other related fields
-3-5 years of PR and reporting experience in project implementation
-Fluency in speaking Arabic and English and high proficiency in written English and Arabic is mandatory
-Proven communication skills
-Comfortable working with a team on a USAID-funded project
-A self-starter, able to exercise leadership and personal initiative on tasks
-Able to travel widely throughout the West Bank
-Ability to manage multiple administrative tasks responsibly
